On Saturday, April 2, 2005, Brother Joseph T. Williams, Iota Omega Chapter in Tuskegee, Alabama was installed as the District Representative of the Seventh District of
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Brother Williams took the oath of office from the 37th
Grand Basileus, Brother George Grace, of Miami, Florida. Both men are graduates of Tuskegee (Institute) University.
Brother Williams stated that his primary emphasis would be on reclamation and retention of the members who have joined our ranks and no longer participate on an active basis. He wants to strengthen the bond of brotherhood within the organization through extensive chapter visitations.
Currently the Seventh District holds the honor of being the largest District in the Fraternity. A challenge was presented to double its membership through reclamation and retaining members who are initiated beyond the initial three years.
Undergraduate Chapters are asked to honor what once was our first Cardinal Principle of Scholarship and maintain and increase the grade point averages they possessed upon entry into the organization.
State Representatives will play a pivotal role in Brother Williams' administration in helping chapters develop and report their activities of Mandated Programs.
Brother Williams is retired as a Clinical Supervisor from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Tuskegee and a retired Command Master Chief from the United States Naval Reserve.
Chapters should look forward to seeing Brother Williams in their local communities as he plans to visit every Chapter before leaving office.
Brother Williams is also the International Recruitment Chairman where he emphasises the recruitment of undergraduates who are developing our Cardinal Principles and graduates who are well on their way with those principles in action.
Brother Williams looks forward to working with you.
